Caspian

Well it's finally finished and I'm nearly happy with it. Not a bad knit for me as I started it on 17 March when I went to the NEC and life has been very hectic in the intervening time. I've also been working on other projects.

The charts for the fair isle are minute and in colour so I stood no chance of trying to enlarge them. The pattern used 3 shades of orange for the chart but I was only able to see 2!

The yarn quantities were incorrect, I needed to buy an extra ball of one colour and only used 1 out of 4 of another and the final straw was when I couldn't tell the difference in the chart colours so didn't use one colour at all.

Despite all that I enjoyed knitting it. I liked the yarns and the colours I chose. It feels like a jacket I will wear for years and it's slightly vintage styling means it will always be "out of date".

I wore it to work today and to Liberty's - lots of good comments about it - not just from my friends but also from 2 total stangers who were in the store. I persuaded Amelia to take some photos for me so as soon as I can work out how to post them you'll see it.

Aha...there it is, you got the photo on! Well done, that is a lovely colourway.

It is very beautiful up close and personal I have to say. I am not so keen on the yarn because I find it rough but I'd love to hear how it softens as you wash it. A well taken picture it has to be said! A.xx

Yvonne, It looks lovely. The pattern book doesn't show it clearly, and this colourway is much nicer.(mysterious missing colour or not),
Regards, Linda

Having seen it for real at Libertys, I can say that it looks just as good if not better than on this blog. And it is much better knitted and finished than the one they have on a stand in John Lewis!

ooh another FO! Love the colours! Have I seen you knitting this? I don't think so! So what's the low down on the new rowan yarn? worth buying or should i stick with the cheaper alternative?

Caspian looks lovely on you Yvonne. I really like the colourway you chose. As a part-time worker, I am always astounded by how you manage to do and achieve so much! You must have a load more energy than most of us.

Well done on finishing Caspian, I can't wait to see it. There's nothing like that "I've done it" feeling is there?

I'm glad you're pleased with Caspian and hope you do get the pic up soon. I really had hoped to get to Liberty's today but time simply ran out. I'm knitting Polly's Kiri at the moment, in some gorgeous alpaca/silk/cashmere that I got in Montreal.
