R.I.P.

I got the call I'd been expecting for a few weeks. Gran died this afternoon.

She had a good life living to see her great grand-daughters; her 100th birthday and the telegram from the Queen.

I 'll always be grateful to her for teaching me to crochet and wish I'd taken more time to learn from her - particularly how to do bobbin lace.

It doesn't matter how prepared you are, it is always a shock. Grannies are so important and I can see from your photo that this was a great relationship. Because of your generous spirit, everything that your granny gave you will be passed on to SO many people and I hope that you take a lot of support from what people have said. Take care.

Lovely photo, lovely lady - you are lucky you had her so long! But it's still sad, even when it is no surprise. Take care of yourself - you've only just got better. Thinking of you - love, Jill

My deepest sympathies to you and your family I too learned to knit from my grandmother who recently passed away - I hope some day to teach my grandchildren - thus keeping her spirit alive.

How sad Yvonne. She's had a great innings, and I hope that it was a peaceful death. End of an era, really. And she looks just great in that photo on her 100th, is that lippie she's wearing? I think she'd approve of the photo!

Yvonne, I'm sorry to hear about your Gran. She sounds to have been a wonderful woman, and I know you will miss her loads but what fantastic memories of her you must have. And every time you pick up a crochet hook you will think of her, such a wonderful incentive to carry on with the craft.
