Last week some of my knitting friends couldn't understand why I carried a cone of yarn around with me on the bus.
Tonight I think they will understand that this is my security blanket - if I have enough yarn to knit it doesn't matter how long the journey to work (or home again) is and it's how I can coccoon myself from the horrible events.
I've been touched by the number of calls I've had and the emails from friends in the USA and Australia checking that I am safe.
My thoughts are with my police colleagues who got drafted in to help and the awful things they are having to cope with and to the families affected by these callous acts
I may have been stopped from going to Liberty's tonight but life will go on as near to normal as I can make it
Posted by Yvonne at July 7, 2005 07:41 PMSo sorry I haven't been keeping up with your blog lately Yvonne. Glad that you are okay. Things have been pretty stressful over here. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that everyone over in your "neck of the woods" stays safe. Shell

Posted by: Gill at July 8, 2005 12:00 AMGlad you are OK. I'm with you, carrying on as normal, or as near to as possible, is the best thing we can do right now.
Posted by: Mary at July 7, 2005 10:19 PMGood for you, Yvonne. We never admit defeat.
A cone of cashmerino is a great therapy. Keep safe and carry on as normal.
I wondered if you had a cone with you - several hundred grms of cashmerino must have been a great comfort! Take care tomorrow - but I'm with you about carrying on as usual.
