Unsettled

I'm having a hard time settling down to knitting on anything at present. The corset has gone on hold as I can't face any more rib; violets is my commuter project so I don't want to work on it this weekend; Marilyn is too heavy for hot weather so what do I do....

I went to visit Silkwood and Nic at the Hampton Court Fair yesterday, played with a skein of silk and fell in love. I started a test piece for a shawl based on the pattern that Thomas used for the Edgy Exchange shawl he made for Jan.

I finished one skein and wanted more - only to learn that Woolly Workshop has all the stock - so a quick order later I'm waiting for the postman to deliver.

Other purchases included "Demented Clown" from Nic and a drop spindle made by Les.

To escape the knitting slump Matt and I are off to visit Scotney - one of our favourite gardens - perhaps inspiration will strike for my knitted garden project.

ugh,

sorry a typo mistake ... I got onto Yvonne's blog from Polly's blog, and the cut and paste function went wrong somewhere. Sorry again, happy birthday wishes Yvonne.

Happy belated birthday Polly ... (late b/c I haven't had time to read blogs since I got Back). Those yarns look luscious and the rabbits are much furrier than mine ... and I have just spent 2 hours combing out tangles. Violets by the river is looking good, and so is the silkwood silk swatch. Just curious, though, what can one do with only 2 x 50g of Aran weight silk? Surely you have to get even more ... no?

Thanks for the suggestion of Loop for the yarn to finish the teddy. I can't get to see this amazing new shop until the children are back at school so I've just had to use my imagination. The bear will be on the blog very soon.

Lovely stuff - wondered if it would be 'one of our lot' who ended up with the handspun. Am also unsettled. Have just needlefelted a heart for Pooch but hasn't helped. Think it is all these socks - I have sock fatigue!

I love the look of the silk. As for the demented clown, well you and Nic know me well enough to know that it is not quite my cup of tea :) I hope you find the inspiration you need, I am in the process of lots of sewing up so I know all about needing inspiration... A.x

I've been reading about Scotney for years, but never seen it. I get sick of rib sometimes, too. It has to be perfect but is monotonous to do, like giving an anaesthatic. I can only do it in small doses.

That blue just sings out, gorgeous stuff, I'm not surprised you fell in love.

I've heard that Silkwoods silk is really fabulous to knit with (Jill!) - will have to look out for some at Caterham!
