Getting ready for Secret pal 6 - I decided to give my pal a head start and do the questionnaire now - not too sure how I feel about some of the questions but I'll be as honest as I can
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I enjoy knitting with wool, silk and cashmere - I've also been known to knit with wire, string and fishing line - the important bit is that I knit - with anything!
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I've been able to do basic crochet since I was a child. I've had a few goes with a drop spindle and produced some "interesting fibre" but have never used a wheel
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
Fish, shellfish and bananas. The smell of vanilla.
4. How long have you been knitting?
About 45 years
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
yes with Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk (must update them as I've just been on a book buying spree)
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Rose, lavender or freesia
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Occasionally but I'm a diabetic so try not to indulge too much
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I sew, make jewellery out of friendly plastics and bead
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
It can play MP3's - I don't listen to much music, mainly because I have hearing problems.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I love colour - purples, reds and blues have been my staples for years. Recently , I've found myself buying greens and browns.
I look ill in pale neutrals!
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
Married to Matt for 24 years on Halloween, no kids of our own but some wonderful nieces and a nephew. No pets at present.
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
to be able to afford to give up work, spend more time with Matt and have time to indulge myself more with fibre things
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
It does depend on what I'm making but generally wool - Koigu and Jaeger extra fine merino being favourites
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
My hands ache when I knit with cotton, linen, hemp
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I've been a fan of mitred knitting for years; have been on a lace spree recently and seem to be moving on to an obsession with cables
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Hats
17. What are you knitting right now?
There's not enough room to list them all! Read the blog and you'll get a good idea. Current favourites are "Violets by the River", Anne Modesitt's Corset; Marilyn and a cable sweater from Vermont Fiber Designs
18. What do you think about ponchos?
Still trying to recover from the orange acrylic one I wore in the 60's
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
Circulars

No - but I love handmade socks, I have UK9 feet!
22. How did you learn to knit?
From Mum and Grandmothers

Probably about 15 years - a Kaffe Fassett vest - if only I could find it

Labradors
25. What is your favorite holiday?
any that I can spend knitting in either the fresh air or in front of a fire with my feet up!

Vintage patterns and any patterns with a finished size over 50"
