Thanks to my SP8 pal for sending me the two Fiddlesticks Knitting patterns for the Peacock Feathers shawl and the Paisley Stole - I should have been working on anyone of 3 existing projects instead I've been surfing the net looking for suitable yarn!
After a conversation with Dawn this afternoon, I was reminded that I have STASH and should go shopping there first of all, so I spent this evening rooting through various bags and boxes of yarn and have come to the conclusion that I have nothing fine enough in sufficient quantity. I do have some Wagtail yarn 4ply left that is telling me it wants to be a Peacock, I could go up a needle size and the shawl would end up slightly larger - what do you think?
Posted by Yvonne at June 3, 2006 12:13 AMI must dig out my wagtail yarn, verrry nice stuff!
I will not believe that you have no suitable Eltham laceweight yarn! All of these comments about Zephyr are making me want to buy some to try...
I have some coned laceweight yarns that might be suitable for you, some lambswool and some merino. Plenty to spare if you haven't already decided on something.
I have some Zephyr that is destined to be a Seascape shawl, just waiting for a 4mm Addi from GetKnitted and I'm away. That yarn is just so gorgeous, I can't stop fondling it. I hope I don't wear it out before I manage to knit it up.
Posted by: Louise at June 5, 2006 11:33 AMI think Wagtail sounds good - imagine that slipping through your fingers as you stitch away. You know you want to, you know you need to, I think Wagtail needs to come out and see the light of day. Set Wagtail free.............................
Posted by: juliet at June 3, 2006 09:12 PMIt's what you think that counts but I'd say go for it! After all, if the shawl is bigger its no big deal is it? Its not like it won't fit.
Most of all, enjoy knitting it and show lots of progress photos!
Posted by: SP8 at June 3, 2006 02:20 PMI'm doing Paisley in Jaggerspun Zephyr which is the recommended yarn. It's a lovely wool/silk mix and it divine to knit with. I ordered it from the Fiddlesticks site and it came in around 4 days. It is pretty close to Cherry Tree Hill's Merino lace - just depends on whether you want handpaints or solids.
