Progress

I spent a lot of time yesterday travelling to Birmingham and back for a KCG commitee meeting. London Transport and the train companies conspired to make the journeys about twice as long as usual so there was plenty of knitting time. Some progess was made on the Lotus tank and on a piece of exchange knitting.

After the meeting I managed to catch up with Jan and Mavis, two ladies I met at the NEC earlier this year. Jan had been busy knitting items for the knitted garden project and I got to carry a box of them home with me. Whilst talking to them I discovered what a small world the world of knitting is - they told me that they had found out about my blog from Mavis' penfriend who lives in Taiwan!

My copy of Knitting Nature finally arrived and I love it! I like the fact that most of the garment patterns would fit me, there are several that I can see me actually wearing and i've made a small start on one of the hats using Rowan Yorkshire Tweed.

One thing I'm not making progress on is the Shoalwater shawl that I started in the Fibreworks 2ply, I'm not enjoying this so it's off to the frogpond and I'll think again about which pattern will work, this yarn is too special to be wasted on something i'm not happy with.

I bought 'Knitting Nature' too, and it is really inspiring! I don't go in for pattern books, as most of the time there's hardly anything I like and end up designing myself, but this one is a must have.

Your Lotus tank looks lovely - I knitted one in the sahara colour, all the better because the yarn was a bargain on ebay! I have worn it several times, always with admiring comments.

That book sounds interesting. Is there a site where you can see a selection of the patterns? Like the idea of the woman's spiral jumper but would want to look before buying!

The bamboo is addictive - now I have finished I rather miss the feel of it. The lotus is well worth the effort, I am keen to knit another one (is that too many?) in a smaller size as well. Haven't seen Nature Knitting - but I will have to investigate, I love the photos of Dungeness - it always makes me think of Derek Jarman and his fabulous garden which looked mindblowing

I'm one step closer to casting on for the lotus top - found the bamboo in the stash, and have my pattern! Yours is looking lovely. I either love or loathe the patterns in Knitting nature. There are a couple that should be one the You Knit What?? blog, really naff, but there's several I love.
