The last few weeks have been very busy on both the work and personal front and it seems that knitting and blogging time has been at an all time low.
Hopefully there will now be some respite as the KCG AGM for 2008 is over and I've completed my part of the write ups. I can honestly say that following a mad time at work, the build up and organisation of the AGM weekend I had a good time.
We started with a trip to the Knitting Library at Winchester School of Arts and were able to see gloves knitted by Richard Rutt
Some very early knitting publications
some quirky - want to know how to knit a horse blanket?
and a modern one that I must read
The couple of hours that we spent there felt like minutes and I would love to be locked in there!
The evening brought it's traditional "Show and Tell" and once again there was some amazing work on show which I will post about as soon as I've recovered the photos from wherever I filed them!
Saturday saw us start with the serious business of the AGM and then we dispersed. Some went on a guided textiles tour of the cathedral; others browsed the shops in town and enjoyed the atmosphere of the Hat Fair and others bonded for an afternoon of charity knitting.
Imogen gave a presentation on making hats which I missed as I couldn't keep my eyes open so went for a quick cat nap ( having offered my apologies in advance)
and then we had the true delight of Joyce Meador as an after dinner speaker. Joyce specialises in Military knitting and had us in fits of laughter

and drooling with envy over her collection of patterns and other items (though I could have done without the aroma of the socks soaked in linseed oil!). My favourites were the knitted long johns with optional gusset!
There was lots of talking, some mild purchases (lace patterns) from Woolly Workshop and a brain busting quiz from Wye Sue.
What I will remember most of all was sitting at lunch on Sunday and seeing Juliet pull this from her bag.
The work was exquisite and I need to learn more from her!
Posted by Yvonne at July 10, 2008 09:25 AMThere was so much talent at the AGM, wasn't there?! AND you can guarantee that noone replied 'No, it came from marks and spencer' when one asked them about the cardi they were wearing...
I had a fab time.
i am in awe.

Posted by: Nic at July 10, 2008 10:01 PMRight I want full details and more importantly how do I contact her?!?
Posted by: Fred at July 10, 2008 08:43 PMI've got the pattern and yarn (and the v. thin needles) to knit those gloves. I feel inspired to start them after seeing the Bishop's pair.
Posted by: Hat at July 10, 2008 05:31 PMGlad you're back and that you had a good time at AGM. The photos are intriguing -- especially Juliet's lace. That is awesome! I cannot wait to hear more and see more pictures.
