On the up

I'm gradually beginning to feel more human and I think my brain is now reunited with my head. I'm not sure about how well the rest of me is working but I have managed to knit a few more rows on my Rowan Exchange gift. It should have been in the post last week so I do hope my giftee understands.

I was the recipient of a wonderful gift from Meike which included two pairs of handknit socks - my feet say a very grateful Thank You as they fit perfectly.

The postman has also brought gifts from my WLK pal Liz, Juliet and Ali - I could get to like staying at home if the mail was always this interesting.

I'll keep plugging away at the Woodland SHawl but wondered what is a good length for a stole - especially for someone who is human not midget size?

Hope you can work out a good length - if you figure the trick to this let me know as I always look like a daschund with a bondage thing going on. Hope you are restored back to health soon, I have just decided on a Jane Sowerby shawl pattern in my Helens Lace to take away to Singapore/New Zealand with me - I am cautiously excited about the project

A good length for a stole is obtained by lying down on one's settee or daybed and "pretending" one is having an afternoon nap. How much of your body would you like to cover? Do you like it to wrap right under your feet? Do you want it doubled? The stole can then live on the back of your settee and have dual purpose - mine does! It also goes away with me most holidays for those rooms with not quite enough bedding.

This is quite considerably longer than a "napghan", which only really covers from waist to toes for those naps taking while the back is still upright. Bit like the Queen has in the back of her car.
