Here be knitting

Just to prove that knitting does take place occasionally here is the hat I knitted on xmas day - not a very good photo but it's hard to take a picture of your own head! I really must buy a model head!

Pattern is Urchin by Ysolda and was a real pleasure to knit. The yarn was an xmas gift from one of my sisters, unlabelled and bought at a local craft show in East Yorkshire

The baby blanket season has started with this

the yarn is from stash and has no labels and I now remember why I stuck it there it splits like mad! This is the total of two weeks commuter knitting, I want something more brainless when I get home at night and the weekend is reserved for finishing a bulkier project soon to be revealed.

The Little Scarf is knitted from a pattern by Charlene Schurch and the yarn is a mix of Alpaca/Merino dyed by Dicentra Designs. Lovely to work with though the colour is more orange than the red shown here.

Can any of you plant lovers give me a clue as to what this is? I love the colour, shape and texture of the leaves and am trying to grow one from a cutting off of this original

My mother had this, and called it the purple passion plant. It appears to be listed at the site of davesgardendotcom for care and growing.

I was going to suggest its a coleus, they just group upward, a bit like a bizzy lizzy, and you pinch out the top to try and keep it down.

I think its a hot water plant

Is the plant this? http://www.plantoftheweek.org/image/coleus.jpg It is a lovely colour - very Yvonne-ish! Actually that purply colour looks quite kidsilk haze like (and I think possibly a bit scottish 4ply too). The hat is fab by the way - it looks fun to have done

I love the texture and colour of your Urchin :)

All agog with regards to the "bulkier" project.

That's a knitting post and a half!! I like all three of your projects, especially the scarf, must start mine soon! I can't help you with the plant. Chris's cousin (who has a 4yo grandson) found out the plant they'd been admiring in their garden was deadly nightshade!!
