Deviating from the plan

There has been progress on the baby blanket front - the first one has been completed and gifted to it's new owner without a photograph being taken. It was a simple crochet granny square made with Sirdar Tiny Tots and took 4 days to produce -speed was of the essence as the baby stopped my procrastination by arriving a few weeks early!

So , instead of learning my lesson from this and cracking on with the next blanket needed by mid-February I decided to be contrary..

I bought "Knitted Jackets" by Cheryl Oberle and love so many patterns in it that I didn't just cast on for one, I had to cast on for two!

Rachel's Jacket is my "at home" knitting using two strands of mohair to produce a simple but warm jacket. My version uses Noro Silk Mountain and Rowan Kid Silk Spray - both bought in the I Knit LOndon sale.

The second project is Cusco using the remainder of the Artesano ALpaca that I bought when I knit Linden - that pattern so seriously over-estimated the yarn needed that I think I'll get Cusco out of it without buying more yarn!

I'm tempted by other jackets in the book especially by one that needs steeks - I have an aversion to cutting good wool - after all how can I recycle all those short lengths if I don't like the finished article.

Photos will follow at some stage when I find where the new camera/computer cable is hiding!

ps The plant is a Purple Velvet plant - we found the original tag!

Well if you have startitis at the moment don't even go near that Jane Sowerby book, I did, and I have spent the afternoon scurrying around my stashes turning over skeins in search of yarn/project combinations despite finishing one planned thing and starting another planned thing. Funnily enough, I am sure some of these skeins were gifted from you but have always been too pretty too knit. Anyway like I said - don't go near the JS Victorian Lace - fatal for will power......
