Only 3 more working days until I go on flexi-retirement!
I'll be working 2.5 days a week and plan to spend the rest of my time tackling the backlog of things I want to do. The knitting list is beginning to grow longer, the pattern books are being thumbed and yarn is being wound into cakes.
Matt keeps dropping hints about household stuff, home cooked food, clean shirts, ironing, that sort of thing - somehow I think he is in for some disappointment.
The last two days have been painful due to an abscess in my jaw, I had emergency treatment yesterday and feel somewhat better but it's amazing how pain affects my knitting gauge, I've just ripped out two days work.
There is some progress, I nearly finished Citron but ran out of yarn 6 rows from the end. A friend has promised me a partial ball she has left over so I'm hoping to get it finished this week.
Whilst waiting for that I've started knitting Ivory Leaves using Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran that I scored in the £5 mystery bags sold by Kemps before xmas
Posted by Yvonne at January 12, 2010 09:11 PMYou probably will feel you have less time but hopefully because you are doing the things you want to do! Mum retired about a year and a half ago and had always preferred embriodery but not anymore! I have converted her to knitting and she is extremely productive especially in baby things and shawls.
Can't wait to see Citron finished.
Posted by: Sarah at January 14, 2010 06:59 AMKindly point out to Matt that he's not been doing laundry, ironing nor cooking home made soup!! You'll be sucked into the space time continuum and those extra 2.5 days will disappear in a few weeks, you'll have LESS time, not more! The colour of citron looks more like the burgundy balls I have, wonder if it's the same, I thought yours would be browner.
Good news about the dentist! Love the knitting!!
In our house all three of us do our own ironing.
As Stephen and I mostly wear t-shirts, it is Ian who is most familiar with ironing. The first thing I do when sewing is get the iron out.
My husband gave me an iron for Christmas... I had said I wanted one because it's hard to sew/quilt without one. Perhaps I need a sewing machine first... But anyways, he made mention of his shirt collars! I figure he can iron his own dang shirt collars, and I will make crazy Gee's Bend- inspired quilts (by hand perhaps?).
Anyways, enjoy your time -- I bet it will fill up and you'll find just as much time for housework as you ever did!
