I'm gradually beginning to feel more human and I think my brain is now reunited with my head. I'm not sure about how well the rest of me is working but I have managed to knit a few more rows on my Rowan Exchange gift. It should have been in the post last week so I do hope my giftee understands.
I was the recipient of a wonderful gift from Meike which included two pairs of handknit socks - my feet say a very grateful Thank You as they fit perfectly.
The postman has also brought gifts from my WLK pal Liz, Juliet and Ali - I could get to like staying at home if the mail was always this interesting.
I'll keep plugging away at the Woodland SHawl but wondered what is a good length for a stole - especially for someone who is human not midget size?
Not much knitting going on here as I've been hit with another viral infection and this time it's affected my joints. I'm also near the tail end of a number of projects and they have either lost their appeal / run out of yarn / become boring! I've started a few things but can't settle to anything so it's back to the strips of garter st for me!!
I finally uploaded the rest of the photos and found a few more memories of the AGM to share and really wish I was going to the In the Loop conference this week.
How about a commercially knit swimsuit by Jaeger? Even after all these years it felt itchy and that was without any sand in it!
Dressing holders anyone?
I've always been fascinated by Sanquhuar gloves and this
reminded me that I do have a number of patterns put away for me to knit when time and hands allow. The patterns can be purchased here for the grand sum of 60 pence each!
Another example of Juliet's work
or how about the patriotic needles kit - note the ones with the heart tops for use when knitting for your sweetheart!
Knitting has featured heavily in this post but I'll leave you with an image of some amazing crochet from Barbara - I really must find a way of getting to her crochet group....
The last few weeks have been very busy on both the work and personal front and it seems that knitting and blogging time has been at an all time low.
Hopefully there will now be some respite as the KCG AGM for 2008 is over and I've completed my part of the write ups. I can honestly say that following a mad time at work, the build up and organisation of the AGM weekend I had a good time.
We started with a trip to the Knitting Library at Winchester School of Arts and were able to see gloves knitted by Richard Rutt
Some very early knitting publications
some quirky - want to know how to knit a horse blanket?
and a modern one that I must read
The couple of hours that we spent there felt like minutes and I would love to be locked in there!
The evening brought it's traditional "Show and Tell" and once again there was some amazing work on show which I will post about as soon as I've recovered the photos from wherever I filed them!
Saturday saw us start with the serious business of the AGM and then we dispersed. Some went on a guided textiles tour of the cathedral; others browsed the shops in town and enjoyed the atmosphere of the Hat Fair and others bonded for an afternoon of charity knitting.
Imogen gave a presentation on making hats which I missed as I couldn't keep my eyes open so went for a quick cat nap ( having offered my apologies in advance)
and then we had the true delight of Joyce Meador as an after dinner speaker. Joyce specialises in Military knitting and had us in fits of laughter

and drooling with envy over her collection of patterns and other items (though I could have done without the aroma of the socks soaked in linseed oil!). My favourites were the knitted long johns with optional gusset!
There was lots of talking, some mild purchases (lace patterns) from Woolly Workshop and a brain busting quiz from Wye Sue.
What I will remember most of all was sitting at lunch on Sunday and seeing Juliet pull this from her bag.
The work was exquisite and I need to learn more from her!
