The knitting mojo appears to be back and working as long as I stick to simple projects! After the success of the blanket I turned my hand to a simple pullover knitted in Sirdar Peru, the pattern was the Bell sleeve pullover designed to be knitted in Merino Stripes.
It was a quick knit, I cast on on 13 October and cast off today the 25th. Two minor amendments, I dispensed with the bell sleeves, making them shorter as I have a habit of pushing all my sleeves up and added a tubular edge to the neck. The pullover is now sewn together and drying after it's blocking.
My plan was to knit a comfy, throw on with jeans pullover and that is what I hope I've achieved. I enjoyed working with the yarn so much I ordered more... well it is on sale!
I've now started on the xmas knitting, first on the needles is Helena for Imogen - I hope to have a progress shot soon.
I was determined to finish the Macmillan blanket and hand it in to the people at The Knitter. I left work early-ish on Thursday intending to spend the evening working on it at I Knit. Not a lot got done, there were new people to talk too, projects to admire and Ally Pally spoils to drool over.
I finished the last square at 1am and crawled off to bed for a few hours sleep. When I woke up I started with the idea of a knitted border, reality kicked in halfway through a cup of coffee and I reached for a crochet hook and worked 2 rounds of double crochets.
I spent part of the journey sewing in ends and then decided that the border needed to be wider so another round of dc was done on the tube and on the bus up to Ally Pally. There were still ends to be sewn in so I made a deal with myself - no going into the show halls until it was completed.
I met up with friends for a cold picnic outside and finally got to show off the finished item. One quick photo and then I went into the hall, a quick stop off to see Vanessa and show her the finished blanket and then I took it along and gave it away!
The Knitter staff made very nice comments and said it might be one of the ones raffled to raise further funds - I just hope it goes to someone who will appreciate the joy of a hand knit blanket
Time to show some of the knitting. Here's an in progress shot of the blanket I'm knitting for Macmillan
The yarn is by Biggan and I just love the range of colours.
Not sure if this will be finished in the next week but I'm going to try to get it done in time to deliver to Ally Pally.
I've a number of cardigan and jackets in various stages of production but the advent of autumn has made me evaluate my wardrobe contents and I've noted a lack of pullovers. I want comfy, wear with jeans items for doing the chores, going shopping etc, what some of my friends call barn pullovers. Anyone got any favourite patterns to suggest?
