Birthday Boy

It was Matt's birthday at the weekend so we headed off to one of our favourite hotels and indulged in that most decadent of meals - Afternoon Tea!

Very little knitting was done but I hope Saturday's walking burned off some of those cakes!

Memory

A different sort of day - an early morning visit to I Knit London to take part in a study re Knitting and memory - fascinating! It seems I can remember twice as much if I'm knitting whilst listening - I just need a note to my boss to explain this!

I hung around for a while enjoying people watching; peaceful knitting and talking to friends. I was joined by Pandora,

On the mend

Tuesday saw my return visit to the hospital. The stitches came out, the consultant says I'm walking better than he'd anticipated for the time scale. The good news was that they'd been able to sort out the cartilage problem, the bad news was they discovered I now have osteoarthritis grade 3! So it looks like I need to book another session with the Rheumatologist.

I managed to get out for trial commute on Wednesday & visited work long enough to deal with payroll & HR issues and then left to start my holiday.

Yesterday I visited the craft show at Olympia to met up with Synnove, Anita & Penny for a couple of hours before going on to knit night.

I stuck to the budget (even came home with money), didn't do any knitting but managed some crochet and Jane Crowfoot came over to check out the double ended tunisian baby blanket I've just started.

Virtually no knitting or crochet at I Knit thanks to the adorable Pandora who designated me her companion for the evening.

Today I'm shattered and my legs ache, I've still done no knitting - these ballet cardigans will not get done at this rate!

In the Pink

The time has come for all good Aunts to listen to the pleas of their nieces - it's time to knit the ballet cardigans again. This time around I have 3 to knit and the smallest version is the one I've started first - after all she did ask nicely!

In search of some variety O's is being knit in Bright Pink aran weight yarn to a top down pattern - my logic says to keep a few balls of yarn to one side and then I can just adjust the sleeve and body length if like her sisters she just grows taller and longer armed with no change in the chest size. There's only 1.5 inches between them and 7 years in age!

For J & A i have to go with a more traditional pale pink in a finer yarn which gives me a good excuse to go and check out the Black Sheep stand at Olympia this week.

I have a hospital check up tomorrow and the stitches due out on Wednesday so it looks like being a busy week. I had fun on Saturday at I Knit London - Jill & I hogged the sofa and it was good to see so many knitty friends - especial thanks to Gerard who baked us a magnificent chocolate torte.

Today is the 6th anniversary of this blog - as ever, I am grateful to Polly for setting it up and hosting it for me.

Change of Plans

I'd originally booked this week off of work to try to sneak in a visit to Glasgow for the show at the SECC - I missed it last year! Really missed seeing all my friends up there.

Today I went into hospital as a day patient and let them play around with my knee. I hope they've managed to do something constructive.

In the meantime our friends in the USA are celebrating National Crochet month so I've got the hooks out and am playing around at Tunisian double ended crochet - lets see if I can achieve something apart from a mess!

I'm using two very different odd balls of yarn in the hope that it will help me remember the sequence of when I need to use which colour and when to turn the hook

Think I've got a long way to go with this technique!
